Apply for up to $5,250 each year to pursue professional certification, vocational training and undergraduate or graduate degrees in the field of aging services through an accredited educational institution or agency. Scholarship awards are paid directly to the school or program by PHS. Scholarship funds are not applicable to expenses incurred in past semesters or programs. Eligible expenses include tuition, books, required fees, supplies, equipment and reasonable costs for child care and transportation. A computer/laptop is not considered an eligible expense.
Eligibility requirements
PHS offers employees nursing loan forgiveness for newly-hired or newly-promoted RNs and LPNs. Reimbursement will be paid quarterly to your paycheck or direct deposit for the minimum loan payments (not the loan balance).

Take the first step toward becoming a nursing assistant through the PHS OnTrack 2-Week Training Program. Designed to work with your busy lifestyle, this flexible program provides graduates with the skills needed to pass the state exam.
The curriculum is flexible, interactive and fun! You must work a regular core schedule within a care center setting. This training program is available to employees serving at any Minnesota PHS location (not currently available in Iowa or Wisconsin).

I fell in love with the role and the mission to enrich the lives of older adults. When I went away to college, I would drive home every weekend to serve at Croixdale. Croixdale has always been my second home. I’m so grateful each and every day to continue to serve the residents and help staff with growth opportunities and PHS education assistance, just like I was able to take advantage of.
We are like family. We work as a team. We help and are there for one another.
It is just really important, meaningful work. So if I can use the things I’ve been blessed with — whether it’s my family background or communication skills to break things down to ensure understanding and make people feel comfortable — then I feel I’ve helped a vulnerable population. It’s all about compassion and serving people who may be less fortunate. And as a faith-based ministry, it’s also family based: we’re all so close and have a personal connection with each other. We care about each other’s well-being and families. It’s just a very understanding and compassionate place to work.
I love interacting with the residents. They warm up to you and so they share, and I love listening to their stories.
God is good by providing a team that can share openly. We can pray for each other, carry loads for each other, and have fun together. I think that is the beauty of the PHS culture and PHS’s success.
When I came in the front doors I could feel God’s presence and knew this warmth.
I have so much respect and admiration for seniors, so it’s something that makes me feel fulfilled when I’m able to serve them, as they did for me when I was younger. Food brings people together, and I love watching them smile and laugh with each other in the dining room.
