This was a big week for Castle Ridge residents. They were the first to move into the new assisted living apartments and care center suites at Flagstone, the newest Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) community in the Twin Cities area, located in Eden Prairie, MN.

Flo Baillargeon, Castle Ridge resident since 2018, was up by dawn on Wednesday, September 8, and on the first bus of the day at 8:30 am. She and her fellow residents were greeted at the Flagstone Gables care center entrance by energetic, cheering staff and a red carpet. Together, residents cut the ribbon and came across the threshold of their new home.

By mid-morning, Flo (pictured right) was relaxing in her new suite and taking it all in. “It’s beautiful! [The suite] is much bigger and nicer,” she exclaimed. Her spacious corner suite has a high ceiling with bright windows, letting in ample natural light and looking out towards Purgatory Creek just a block away. The suite is well appointed with new furniture and plenty of space for Flo to add her own touches and make it her home. “It’s PER-FECT!” she said.

A long-envisioned master plan unfolds

Flagstone is part of a master planned redevelopment featuring market rate apartments and retail/commercial businesses. When all living options are completed, Flagstone will offer a full range of housing and care options. The Town Center offers an array of amenities to all residents.

The vision for Flagstone was cast in 2003 when PHS acquired Castle Ridge, which offered assisted living suites and a skilled nursing care center. At that time, PHS established a long-term goal of redeveloping and expanding the community to meet the demands of a growing older adult population in the southwestern Twin Cites metro area.

After it is fully vacated, Castle Ridge will be demolished to make room for components of the master plan. We remember and honor over 40 years that Castle Ridge has been home to older adults and the place of ministry and service by a host of PHS employees and volunteers.

Meanwhile, we are grateful to all who have been dedicated to design, construct, equip and bring this beautiful community named Flagstone to life.

Reservations are open for all living options. Contact Shelsie Nesburg, Housing Advisor, by email or call (952) 829-6400 to inquire or schedule a tour.
