Roberta Kuhn Center
Adult learning and leisure opportunities, available through the long-standing Roberta Kuhn Center (RKC), add another level of engagement for both residents and seniors of the Dubuque area. Sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM), RKC offers classes that provide intellectual growth, enrichment, and socialization that stimulate the mind, body, and spirit while strengthening attitudes that growing older means growing better.
Held in the historic BVM Motherhouse, over 600 students attend classes taught by more than 20 volunteer instructors who bring their professional experiences in the fields of education, the arts, and healthcare and wellness to the classroom. Nearly two dozen class offerings include a variety of subjects—from popular wellness options to hands-on art classes—as well as history, foreign languages, creative writing, and poetry.
Founded in 1982, RKC’s namesake, Roberta (Alberto) Kuhn, BVM was president of the BVM congregation from 1967–72.
